Undergraduate Scholarship Requirements

To qualify for consideration for the undergraduate Global Futures Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an international fee-paying student from one of the eligible African countries.
  • Be applying for direct first-year entry to the University of Manchester in 2027.
  • Be self-funded and not sponsored.
  • Apply for an eligible full-time undergraduate course delivered at the University of Manchester’s UK campus.
  • Select the University of Manchester as their Firm UCAS choice by May 15, 2027.
  • Hold or be working toward an accepted qualification, including:
    • A-levels
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
    • South African NSC or IEB
    • NCUK International Foundation Year
    • Bridge House College Foundation

Scholarship applications will be assessed using factors such as academic performance, predicted or achieved grades, and the strength of the applicant’s personal statement.

Undergraduate Scholarship Award

Successful undergraduate applicants can receive a scholarship worth £36,000, distributed as:

  • £12,000 per year
  • Over a maximum of three years

The award is provided as a reduction in the published international tuition fees.

Continuation of the award is conditional on meeting the university’s academic requirements, including achieving an average of at least 60% in each year.

Master’s Scholarship Requirements

To be considered for the Global Futures Scholarship for master’s study, applicants must:

  • Be an international fee-paying student from an eligible African country.
  • Have predominantly lived in the eligible country for the previous three years.
  • Be self-funded and not sponsored.
  • Apply for a full-time, on-campus master’s program at the University of Manchester.
  • Begin the program in September 2027.

Master’s Scholarship Award

Each successful recipient can receive an award of £19,000, provided as a discount against the published international tuition fees.
