GOUNI, Enugu, has introduced final-year students to the intelligence assessment examination to prepare them better for scholarships, jobs, and competitive interviews.
Plagiarism tests will be conducted by the university on all final-year projects to ensure academic integrity; postgraduate students are also included.

New Examination and Plagiarism Tests
Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, the Vice Chancellor, announced the intelligence assessment tests for final-year students would be implemented in May, starting with law students.
The examination will focus on qualitative, quantitative, and simple logic questions and will be CBT to minimize exam malpractice.
The final-year project plagiarism test has also been introduced by the university. Any project will be canceled if found to have more than 25% copied content, and the student will be required to pay additional school fees and redo the work.
Without clearance from the school librarian, a final-year student won’t defend their project.
Impact on Students
There will be a reduction of the student’s Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) if there s a failure in the examination.
Students aspiring for First class degrees, ‘Vice Chancellor for One Day’ titles, Best all-around students, and foreign scholarships are encouraged to study hard.
Improvement in Dress Code and Faculty Rankings
Anieke acknowledged the student dress code should be improved. Improper dressing by students after the easter celebration would face action from the disciplinary committee.
He encouraged students from other faculties to imitate the dress code standards set by the College of Medicine and faculties of Law.
However, based on compliance with the university’s dress code, faculties will be ranked. The top-ranked faculty will receive N100,00, while the lowest will pay N100,00.
Easter Break and Awards
The VC granted breaks for students and staff residing in Enugu as there will be no holidays during the Easter celebration.
Approval must be obtained by students before leaving the campus.
Anieke announced that Vitalis Iloanusi, an English and Literary Studies 400-level student, emerged as the Best Student and ‘Vice Chancellor for One Day’f the university this year and won a brand new car.
Conclusion
These measures will make sure that GOUNI graduates are well-equipped with the knowledge and necessary skills to excel in their chosen fields.
