About the HEC Commonwealth Scholarship 2027

The HEC Commonwealth Scholarship is designed to support talented students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom but are unable to finance their education independently.

The scholarship supports full-time Master’s and doctoral studies in fields that contribute to sustainable development and address global challenges. Applications are processed through both the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s Electronic Application System (EAS) and the HEC online portal.

HEC Commonwealth Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a Pakistani or AJ&K national and permanent resident
  • Be available to begin studies in the UK during the September/October 2027 academic session
  • Be financially unable to afford studying in the UK without scholarship support
  • Meet the academic requirements for their chosen program

Master’s Applicants

Applicants must:

  • Be no more than 30 years old at the time of application
  • Hold a first-class degree equivalent to 16 years of education (BS, BBA, MBA, MA, MSc, or equivalent)
  • Have completed all degree requirements before the application deadline

PhD Applicants

Applicants must:

  • Be no more than 35 years old at the time of application
  • Hold a first-class postgraduate qualification equivalent to MS/MPhil (17–18 years of education)
  • Have completed all degree requirements before the application deadline

Additional Requirements

Applicants must not:

  • Be enrolled in a UK Master’s, MPhil, or PhD program before the scholarship begins
  • Have previously studied at the same level in the United Kingdom
