The Opportunity
Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for Trades Assistant to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.
- This role is 14 days on / 14 days off.
- Shifts are days and nights.
- Open to Canadian Residents
Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for their own and their co-workers’ safety while assisting various Tradespeople who are performing mechanical and electrical maintenance underground at the Hemlo Operations.
More specifically, our trade assistants will
- Assist maintenance crews by performing mechanical or electrical maintenance duties on heavy-duty and light-duty mobile equipment or underground electrical systems.
- Operate power tools and equipment as required; operate mobile equipment to transport materials and supplies.
- Perform other duties as required
Skills and Experience
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others
- Must be semi-skilled and have some knowledge of heavy-duty light-duty mobile equipment and/or electrical maintenance
- Experience working in an underground mine is preferred.
- Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as required
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
