Responsibilities
- The Development Director will achieve revenue goals and recruit and develop volunteer leadership. This will include soliciting large-dollar and multi-year corporate sponsorships, cultivating individual donors, peer-to-peer fundraising, and recruiting volunteer committees for the Go Red for Women campaign.
- The Director will be held accountable for an overall bold market fundraising goal and for carrying out high-quality campaigns in accordance with Association standards and in collaboration with the team.
- We have a fast-paced sales environment, and the main responsibility is driving revenue to support our mission.
- We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive of up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.
- Prospect and secure local corporate sponsorships and individual donations. Research, identify, and acquire companies as participants and volunteers for the American Heart Association campaigns.
- Includes building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors to retain and upgrade their financial dedication.
- Prioritize current corporate customers based on number of employees, current financial support, and relationship with the American Heart Association.
- Engage, recruit, and mobilize CEOs, corporate leaders, and community leaders to serve on volunteer leadership committees and participate in the event to ensure fundraising and health outcome success.
- This includes encouraging personal and corporate giving of volunteer leaders, plus peer-to-peer fundraising.
- Prospect and secure local corporate sponsorships and individual donors. This includes handling existing and new sponsorships, renewal, and deepening engagement via frequent face-to-face meetings to retain and upgrade their financial commitment.
- Recruit and lead executive volunteer leadership and volunteer committees and handle a day of the event timeline and business plans.
- Lead volunteer recruitment and engagement with c-suite executive and manager-level volunteers.
- Handle the annual team cycle for the digital experiences/events, including securing corporate participation, setting goals, and motivating team members for the Go Red for Women campaign.
- Lead and engage new individual members for our personal giving society in partnership with other appropriate fundraising staff.
- Includes planning and implementing regular engagement events for members.
- Develop profiles of the top businesses within the assigned market with a detailed plan to secure their involvement.
- Handle event management, including but not limited to planning, logistics, implementation, and evaluation post-event for constant improvements.
- Work with a Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising, sales or equivalent type experience.
- Knowledge of community organizations, sales, fundraising, and marketing principles, practices, techniques, and trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training.
- Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations, and similar narrative pieces.
- Knowledge of forming strategic alliances/partnerships with Fortune 1000 companies or similar types of organizations.
- Able to travel up to 75% in your local market.
- Must have no less than basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift and/or move large objects with the expectation that heavier items will be broken down into smaller components or that additional assistance is required before lifting and/or moving.
- University/College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience leading and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level.

Work-Life Harmonization The Association offers Paid Time Off (PTO) at a minimum of 16 days per year for new employees. The number of days will increase based on seniority level.
