Job Summary
A Simulation Analyst in a CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) team utilizes computer simulations and modeling techniques to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and ensure the successful production of automotive components.
Job Responsibilities
Your supervisor may occasionally ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job’s key responsibilities include:
- Process Modeling: Developing digital models of manufacturing processes, such as assembly lines, welding processes, or machining operations, using specialized software tools.
- Simulation: Running simulations on these models to analyze and optimize various aspects of the manufacturing process, including cycle times, material flow, resource utilization, and productivity. Perform numerical simulations of injection molded components and propose new analysis techniques for solving development and production issues.
- Optimization: Identifying areas for improvement within the manufacturing process and proposing changes or optimizations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. Proactively provide input on technical challenges and develop alternative solutions during development. Engaging in root-cause analysis and problem-solving
- Troubleshooting: Investigating issues or bottlenecks in the manufacturing process through simulation and analysis and proposing solutions to resolve them. Provide technical support and direction for injection mold tooling and process development activities with internal and external customers (theoretical and hands-on at press).
Job Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required, with a preference for a focus/experience with plastics.
- Experience with process modeling, simulation, and optimization in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- 3 to 5 years of Moldflow or equivalent Modeling experience. Experience with specific CAE software tools commonly used in automotive manufacturing, such as simulation software for finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or discrete event simulation (DES), is beneficial.
- 3-5 years of automotive industry experience with a focus on interior, exterior, and under-hood plastic components. Previous experience with mold design, mold making, and product development of injection molded products.
