La Trobe FLEX Scholarship Details

The La Trobe FLEX Scholarship provides additional support to graduate researchers whose disabilities affect the pace at which they can complete their research degree.

La Trobe FLEX Scholarship Benefits

  • Stipend of $36,000 per year for 2026
  • Up to 18 months stipend extension for PhD candidates
  • Up to 8 months stipend extension for research Master’s candidates
  • Research support allowance of up to $3,000 per year
  • Tuition fee scholarship for the extended candidature period
  • Extended candidature of up to 12 months for PhD candidates and 6 months for research Master’s candidates
  • Up to 24 months of aggregated leave of absence, subject to applicable conditions

Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold or have accepted an RTP or LTGRS stipend
  • Have a permanent or likely permanent disability that substantially affects functional capacity
  • Demonstrate that the disability affects the pace of study and requires additional time to complete the degree
  • Meet the academic requirements for the relevant research degree
  • For doctoral applicants, demonstrate research preparation equivalent to a La Trobe Master’s by Research standard
  • For research Master’s applicants, hold an equivalent of at least an Australian high honours 2A degree
  • Priority is given to applicants undertaking research at a La Trobe campus

  2. Prepare the required medical evidence and supporting documentation.
  3. Email the completed form and evidence to BGR@latrobe.edu.au.
  4. Ensure your RTP or LTGRS stipend application is successful or already in place.
  5. Submit your application before 31 December 2026.
