    Nigerian Polytechnics Offering Prosthetics/Orthotics Technology 2026

    Prosthetics and orthotics are dynamic and expanding professions or fields of study. Although they are technically separate disciplines, their common goals in rehabilitation unite them into a cooperative entity.

    The goal is to create and restore missing body parts, primarily the upper and lower limbs.

    Prosthetists and orthotists work together to create, measure, fabricate, and fit Prostheses (artificial upper and lower limbs and parts thereof) and Orthoses (support of weak or ineffective joints or muscles using supportive braces and splints).

    The following is the list of polytechnics that offer Prosthetics/Orthotics Technology as a course:

    O’Level Requirements

    The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Prosthesis and Orthopaedic Technology include the following:

    Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology.

    Direct Entry Requirements

    These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Prosthesis and Orthopaedic Technology if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

    •  ‘A’ level passes in any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
    • ND Upper Credit in Prosthesis and Orthopaedic Technology

    Conclusions

    The program’s goal is to produce prosthetists and orthotists capable of designing and fabricating various orthopaedic appliances/fittings and prostheses used in the treatment of orthopaedic patients.

    Graduates have a lot of opportunities. Prosthetists and orthoptists work in general Hospitals in the Federal and State Ministries of Health as a Prosthetist and Orthotist and Orthotist Lecturer at University and other higher learning institutions etc.
