The Queens’ College Junior Research Fellowships 2027 provide outstanding early-career researchers with the opportunity to pursue independent research at Queens’ College, University of Cambridge, for up to three years.

About the Queens’ College Junior Research Fellowships

The Queens’ College Junior Research Fellowships are intended for exceptional early-career academics who wish to undertake independent research in a stimulating academic environment.

Fellows become members of Queens’ College and benefit from mentorship, access to the College’s renowned library, and opportunities to collaborate with leading scholars across the University of Cambridge. They are also encouraged to participate actively in the academic life of the College and may undertake teaching by arrangement with the Senior Tutor.

For the current competition, applications are invited in the fields of Archaeological Science and Development Studies.

Fellowship Benefits

Successful applicants may receive:

• A stipendiary or non-stipendiary fellowship.

  • £33,951 for postdoctoral fellows, or
  • £28,777.44 for pre-doctoral fellows.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be well advanced in their doctoral research or have recently completed a doctorate.
• Demonstrate exceptional academic ability and research potential.
• Be pursuing research in one of the eligible subject areas:
  • Archaeological Science
  • Development Studies

For stipendiary fellowships, applicants must:

• Be engaged in full-time research.

For non-stipendiary fellowships, applicants must:

• Have recently accepted, or be about to accept, a salaried postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge.

Fellowship Conditions

Successful fellows are expected to:

• Conduct high-quality independent research throughout the fellowship.
• Participate actively in the academic life of Queens’ College.
• Engage with mentoring opportunities provided by the College and University.
• Comply with all fellowship regulations established by Queens’ College.
