UNICAL Cut-Off Marks for Admission 2024/2025 academic session has been released: The University of Calabar UNICAL cut-off mark is based on merit and catchment area benefits.
UNICAL is one of Nigeria’s second-generation federal universities and currently has a Graduate school, ten Faculties, and three Institutes.
Built to fulfill its motto ‘Knowledge for Service,’ placing a great premium on learning and character, UNICAL is currently ranked as the 48th best University in Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Zana I. Akpagu. Prof. Florence Obi currently holds the position of DVC (Academic), and Prof. Ndifreke Udonwa DVC (Administration).
The Registrar is Mr. Moses O. Abang. Mrs. Beatrice Igwe is the University Bursar, and Dr. (Mrs.) Nkoyo Edem is the University Librarian.
The University of Calabar was one of the foremost Nigerian Universities to automate students’ registration processes through the College Portal and has taken a step further to automate its alumni relations which includes an online transcript request and processing first of its kind in the country.
However, candidates who have scored a minimum of one 180 in the UTME examination are eligible to apply for admission into any of their choice courses. The new point system is used for calculating scores and also screening students.

UNICAL 2024/2025 Nature of Admission Screening
The University of Calabar holds her admission screening exercises within a week or a couple of weeks, and it usually comes in two phases. Students who apply to study in the school are to proceed with the pre-screening exercise when once it is announced.
Documents required for the pre-screening exercise are SSCE results and JAMB registration printout only.
It is often important that a candidate arrive early and locate his/her screening venue early. Candidates will be screened on the JAMB scores and their SSCE results.
The second phase of the screening is after the admission lists might have been released. Candidates who have merited the admission will be invited for another screening exercise. Here are all documents such as;
- Original copies of their educational qualifications (Statements of Results/Certificates).
N/B: Cases of awaiting results will NOT be accepted. - Birth Certification/Age Declaration.
- A letter of good conduct from your Village Head or a responsible member of your
community/or civil servant not below Grade Level 10 or equivalent in the private sector. - Certificate of Local Government of origin; and this notification of admission status.
