    UNILAG Introduces M.Sc. in Hydrographic Surveying for 2025/2026 Academic Session

    The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced that is now open for application into a Master’s program in Hydrographic Surveying for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.

    About M.Sc. in Hydrographic Surveying

    This Master’s program is designed to train students in the necessary skill set needed for an excellent career in Maritime Mapping, Data Interpretation, and its Acquisition.

    The program also aims to help boost Nigeria’s maritime capabilities to be at par with international standards while simultaneously solving the problem of talent and professional deficiencies in the Maritime sector.

    Institutional Hosting

    The M.Sc. in Hydrographic Surveying will be hosted by UNILAG’s Institute of Maritime Studies (IMS).

    Curriculum Features

    The curriculum is modeled in accordance with the guidelines put forth by the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO).

    This Master’s program has a robust faculty, which comprises renowned academicians with years of field experience.

    Additionally, seasoned professionals working within the Maritime sector are to contribute to providing wholistic knowledge to students within the program.

    • Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)
    • Nigerian Navy Hydrographic Office

    • Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)

    Eligibility Criteria for UNILAG M.Sc. in Hydrographic Surveying

    Interested individuals should possess the following in order to be considered eligible for the program:

    • Possess at least a Second-Class (Lower Division) Bachelor’s Degree from UNILAG or any other accredited university. The Degree would be from any of the following:
      • Marine Sciences
      • Physical Sciences
      • Engineering
      • Surveying
      • Geography
      • Earth Sciences
    • Have met all UNILAG’s postgraduate admission prerequisites.

    Timeframe for Programme Completion | Full-Time & Part-Time

    Full-Time Option

    Minimum Duration: 3 semesters
    Maximum Duration: 6 semesters

    Part-Time Option

    Minimum Duration: 4 semesters
    Maximum Duration: 8 semesters
