    University of Lagos and State University of Education, Moscow Sign Academic MOU

    The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria, and the State University of Education in Moscow, Russia, have entered a historic partnership to boost academic exchange and foster joint educational programs.

    The official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday, June 26, 2025, marking the start of an anticipated era of academic growth and cooperation.

    Sealing the Agreement


    The significant event occurred in the office of UNILAG’s Deputy VC, Professor Bolanle Oboh. Professor Bola Oboh and Dr. Kulikov Dmitry, Rector for Science at the State University of Education, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective universities.

    The presence of key faculty members from both universities signified the importance of this MoU and the mutual commitment to its successful implementation.

    Key Areas of Cooperation


    Under this agreement, both universities have committed to promoting mutual development in several areas of activity. These include:

    Exchange of academic staff and researchers

    This facilitates the transfer of knowledge and skills, enabling both institutions to benefit from the expertise of their foreign counterparts.


    Exchange of students

    This promotes cultural and academic exchange, allowing students to gain international exposure and learn from different academic environments.


    Cooperation in research activities

    Joint research ventures will bolster academic growth, innovation, and discovery across both institutions.


    Implementation of joint educational programs

    These initiatives will foster collaborative learning and further enrich students’ academic experiences.


    Joint launch of the “Centre for Open Education in Russian.”

    This new center, coupled with teaching Russian at the University of Lagos, marks a significant milestone in promoting linguistic and cultural exchange


    A Five-Year Commitment


    The Memorandum of Understanding will be valid for five years from its signing and an extension for an additional five-year period upon mutual agreement between both parties.
