Eligibility Criteria

Additional eligibility includes:

  • Permanent residents are not eligible.
  • Dual U.S. citizens should review the specific eligibility requirements for their chosen award.
  • Applicants with a J.D. degree are eligible.
  • Applicants with an M.D. degree may apply for advanced academic study but not internships or medical residencies.
  • Medical research proposals involving clinical training, patient care, or activities requiring medical or nursing licensure are not eligible.
  • For applicants in creative or performing arts, four years of professional training or experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
