Research and prepare reports with recommendations on assigned planning studies to the Development and Heritage Standing Committee and City Council
This position will be responsible for researching issues affecting growth and development in the community and recommending land use policies to promote efficient and effective land use patterns.
Qualifications
- Must have a University degree in Planning or related field, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency, and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in planning or related field;
- Must be a full Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) or must be able to attain full membership within three (3) years of accepting the position;
- Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If the method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver’s Licence is required by the Highway Traffic Act, and a driver’s abstract must be provided as a condition of employment.
- Must have knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, related legislation and provincial policies, and the development review process;
- Must have excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills; ability to make oral presentations; ability to develop and use graphic aids;
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite of products, graphic software, and land-based information systems; a proficiency in ArcGIS is desirable;
- Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Must have the ability to solve problems and meet deadlines under pressure;
- Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its Regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
- The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a sedentary level of work.
