About the Minnesota State University Graduate Scholarship

The University of Minnesota Conservation Sciences Program is seeking an outstanding graduate student to undertake a PhD research project focused on advancing knowledge of white-tailed deer health and disease ecology.

The research is being conducted in collaboration with Bemidji State University and the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (FDL Band).

The project will investigate deer population health and examine how health conditions relate to deer management and survival. Findings from the research will contribute to disease risk analysis and help identify and prioritize disease hazards that could be addressed during potential elk translocation efforts.

The successful candidate will undertake substantial fieldwork, including planning and implementing field activities, collecting and managing research data, conducting laboratory work, and applying advanced epidemiological and ecological modeling techniques.
