• Not hold dual citizenship where one of the citizenships is from a developed country.
• Be preparing to pursue a PhD or postdoctoral research in a STEM discipline. The fellowship does not fund Master’s degree programs.
• Have applied to, been admitted to, or be enrolled at a host university or research institution abroad. Applicants who have not yet applied to a university are not eligible.
• For sandwich programs, the final degree must be awarded by the host university abroad or jointly with the home institution; it cannot be awarded solely by the home-country university.
• Have an excellent academic record.
• Demonstrate a willingness to return to their home country or region after completing their studies and contribute to its socioeconomic development.
• Have demonstrated teaching experience in their home country.
• Be committed to returning home to pursue one or more of the following:
  • An academic or research position in a STEM faculty.
  • STEM entrepreneurship aimed at addressing challenges in their local community or region.
  • Public-sector leadership using scientific expertise to support evidence-based STEM policymaking, including policies addressing gender representation.
• Demonstrate leadership abilities, active community engagement, and a proven record of encouraging girls and women to pursue STEM.
