About the Mississippi State University Scholarship

The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Dr. Sandra B. Correa on a research project investigating freshwater exposure in bottlenose dolphins using stable isotope analysis. The research involves field sampling in Mississippi’s coastal rivers, laboratory analyses in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine, scientific publications, conference presentations, and completion of an M.S. degree within two years.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in:
  • Wildlife and Fisheries.
  • Biology.
  • Ecology.
  • Natural Resources.
  • Biochemistry.
  • Or a closely related discipline.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Have an interest in aquatic ecology and statistical analysis.
• Be willing to participate in intensive seasonal fieldwork.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Experience operating and trailering boats is highly desirable.
• Experience developing laboratory standard operating procedures is an advantage.
