Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), formerly known as the University of Ife, is a federal government-owned and operated Nigerian university. The university is in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.
OAU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields of specialization spanning the humanities, the arts, the natural sciences, the social sciences, the medical sciences, engineering, and technology.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Local Government Administration; You require;
Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Government or History, Economics, and any other two (2) subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics
Special Requirement (Waiver) Remarks:
- OAU requires English Language, Mathematics, Government/Economics, and two (2) from Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, Accounting/Book Keeping, Civic Education, Literature in English, Agricultural Science, and any Nigerian Language
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Local Government Administration under the Faculty of Administration in the above Universities include;
Government/History, Economics, and any other subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Local Government Administration if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes, one (1) of which must include Government or History.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into OAU for the 2025/2026 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result.
