    OKOPOLY Department of Computer Science Admission Requirement 2025/2026

    This article is designed to help students who wish to study Computer Science Faculty of Sciences at Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY).

    OKOPOLY

    It is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any courses offered in OKOPOLY to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

    The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State.

    The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brainchild of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result-oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme.

    The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries).

    The climatic condition of the host community ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade.

    It is one of Nigeria’s fastest-developing tertiary institutions with a highly futuristic disposition. It has a functional memorandum of understanding with universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.

    • The main campus at Oko occupies a total land area of 89 hectares.
    • Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectares.
    • Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectares.

    To study Home and Rural Economics, candidates must meet the following requirements.

    O’Level Subject Combination

    The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Computer Science;

    You require

    Mathematics, basic science and three other subjects chosen from the following: Economics
    Geography
    Government/History
    Further Mathematics
    Physics
    Chemistry
    Biology/Agricultural Science.
    English Language,
    Typewriting,
    Credit passes in English Language and Physics are compulsory

    Jamb Subject Combination

    In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Computer Science under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;

    • Mathematics and any two of
    • Geography,
    • Physics,
    • Economics or
    • Chemistry

    Direct Entry Requirement

    These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Computer Science if you don’t intend to use UTME.

    You require

    ADAMAWA-POLY IMTE and ABIA-POLY accept a pass in Physics

    Yabatech and Rivcas

    Require five credits to include Physics, English Language, and Mathematics, plus any two of Statistics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics and Biology. YABATECH requires the credits at not more than two sittings.

    Rivpoly and Ag-poly

    Require a credit in English.

    Nuba-poly

    Does not accept Geography and Economics as UTME subjects.

    Laspotech

    Requires a pass in Physics, credits in Mathematics and a social science subject.

    Ibadan-Poly

    Does not accept Geography as a UTME subject. Does not accept Government, History and Food & Nutrition as course requirements

    Yabatech

    Requires Physics and Mathematics as UTME subjects.

    Kad-poly

    Requires credits in Mathematics and social science; the two other subjects should include Physics/basic science and at least a pass in Eng. Lang. Food & Nutrition is not acceptable.

    Ekiti-poly

    Requires a pass in English Language and four credits in Mathematics, Physics and two subjects from the Social Sciences and one from Science.

    Lagos city-poly

    Accepts credit in Chemistry instead of credit in Physics.

    BAUCHI-POLY, EKITI-POLY offer the course Computer Studies.

    Offa-poly

    Requires credits in Chemistry and one of Basic Elect/Elect., Additional Mathematics and Technical Drawing.

    Ospoly

    Does not accept History and Food and Nutrition as Course requirements.

    Ede-poly

    Accepts candidates TC Grade II Certificate, Federal Craft Certificate, City and Guides, Intermediate) with credit in Mathematics, Physics, Biology/Agric. Sci. and pass in Woodwork, Metalwork, Technical Drawing or Arts will be an advantage or other qualification acceptable to the Polytechnic.

    Igbajo-Poly

    Accepts five Credit passes in Eng. Lang, Chemistry, Physics and other subjects from the following: Mathematics, Bio/Agric, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, and Economics at not more than two sittings.

    Nekede-poly and Fideiploy

    Require credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, English Language and two other subjects from Statistics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics/Commerce, Biology/Agric. Science, government/History, Technical Drawing, Information Communication Technology.

    Kwara-Poly

    Requires a Credit pass in Physics and does not accept Government/History and Typewriting as Course requirements. Accepts Credit passes in Food & Nutrition instead of Agricultural Science/ Biology as a Course requirement.

    Fedpo-Nam

    Accepts candidates TC Grade II Certificate, Federal Craft Certificate, City and Guides, Intermediate) with credit in English Language and Mathematics and any other three relevant subjects from Physics, Biology/Agric. Sci. and Chemistry, Pass in Woodwork, Metalwork, Technical Drawing or Arts will be an advantage or other qualification acceptable to the Polytechnic.

    Rugipo

    Either a credit pass in English Language or a pass in Chemistry is accepted or vice versa.

    Ede-poly

    Expects the two other subjects from Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

    Fcapt–kano

    Accepts Four credit passes in an NBTE-recognized Preliminary National Diploma (at credit level) course offered in a Polytechnic or similar post-secondary technical institution. The credit passes must include Mathematics, Physics, English Language, and other subjects.

    Rivpoly

    Accepts Mathematics, Physics and any of Further Mathematics, Economics or Chemistry as UTME subjects.

    Bauchi-poly

    Does not accept Geography, and Physics, Mathematics as Core subjects.

    Nogak

    Accepts a pass in English Language and credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and any two from Social Sciences.

    Imo-poly

    Requires five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, A basic science and any two other subjects from the following: Economics, statistics, geography, Government/History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric Science, and Typewriting. At least a pass in physics is compulsory.

    Fcfjos

    Requires Five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two of Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and Economics as course requirements.

    Mapoly

    Requires four credits passes in one sitting or five credits in not more than two sittings to include credit in Mathematics and English Language, Physics/Basic Electricity/Electronics and any other subject(s) from the following: Chemistry/Biology/Agric. Science/Food & Nutrition, Computer Studies/Data Processing, Economics/Commerce, Geography, Further Mathematics.

    Fcwm

    Requires Passes in English Language and Physics are compulsory. Credit passes in Mathematics and three other subjects chose: Economics, Geography, Government/History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, English Language, Typewriting.

    Fclrto

    Requires credit pass in Mathematics and Physics and pass in any other Science subjects.

    Oyscai

    Requires five O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science and any other from Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics and Type-writing.

    Aiscas

    Requires credit passes in Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry/Biology and any other two subjects from Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Chemistry and a pass in the English Language.

    U.T.M.E. Subject

    Kad-poly

    Requires Mathematics, Physics and any two from Social or Physical Sciences.

    Fcahptib

    Requires Mathematics and any two from Geography, Biology/Agricultural Science, Economics or Chemistry.

    Fcfjos

    Accepts either of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Biology or Geography

    Jamb Score

    All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko for the 2019/2020 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.
