This article is designed to help students who wish to study Islamic Studies under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Sokoto State Univeristy (SSU).
It is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered at SSU to carefully confirm and see if the course they selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.
About Sokoto State Univeristy
The Sokoto State University (SSU) is located in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
It was established in 2009 as part of a motivated effort on the part of the Sokoto State to satisfy the quest of the people of the state for excellence and education.
It began as the Sokoto State Univeristy School of Developmental Studies, which ran a one-year degree program to prepare students for the University.
Admission Requirements for Islamic Studies
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Islamic Studies is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language and Islamic Studies or Arabic and any three relevant subjects.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Islamic Studies at SSU include Islamic Studies together with two other Arts subjects.

You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes, one of which should be Islamic Studies.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into SSU for the 2025/2026 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
