About the Oklahoma State University Scholarship
The Oklahoma State University Scholarship offers a fully funded Master’s assistantship in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology & Management (NREM) under the supervision of Dr. Scott Loss and Dr. Tim O’Connell.
The selected student will participate in research focused on bird-window collisions, one of the leading causes of bird mortality worldwide.
Research activities include:
- Monitoring bird-window collisions on the Oklahoma State University campus
- Evaluating methods for reducing bird collisions with buildings
- Investigating factors influencing collision rates, including:
- Light pollution
- Weather conditions
- Surrounding landscape characteristics
- Using large ecological databases such as eBird to answer broader conservation questions
The project combines fieldwork, ecological data analysis, and public outreach to improve bird conservation strategies.
Scholarship Benefits
