    Eligibility Criteria for British Council Scholarships

    To be eligible for the British Council Scholarships, you must:

    • be a citizen of one of the approved countries.
    • have an undergraduate degree, be motivated, and be interested in the proposed subject area.
    • meet the English language requirement of the UK higher education institutions (HEI). You can do this by providing evidence of your previous studies in English, or by taking an alternative English language test accepted by the HEI.
    • establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment.
    • be willing to attend a networking event of all UK based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.
    • be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and their HEI and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships as an alumnus.
    • be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK.

    How to Apply for British Council Scholarships

    The application process for the British Council Scholarships varies according to each institution. You will need to apply for individual scholarships following the instructions given by each university.

    The deadline to apply for a GREAT Scholarship also depends on the institution, but most of them are between January and April 2024. You can check the specific dates on the university pages.
