How Acadanow collects email addresses, what we send, and how to stop the emails in one click.
How to unsubscribe
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you are removed. You do not need an account, a password, or a reason.
If the link will not open, or you cannot find the email, send a message to contact@acadanow.com from the address you want removed and write “unsubscribe”. We remove it on request, and the removal takes effect immediately.
Two ways out, both free and immediate: the unsubscribe link in any email, or an email to contact@acadanow.com saying unsubscribe. No questions asked.
What we send and how often
Acadanow emails are about scholarships and admissions. A typical message points to newly published scholarship openings, application deadlines that are close, or admission and school updates that affect Nigerian students.
We send only when there is something worth reading, so the volume follows the admission calendar rather than a fixed schedule. Busy application seasons mean more emails than quiet months.
We also send the occasional service message, for example confirming that you joined the list or telling you that this page has changed in a way that affects you.
How we collect your address
Addresses reach us one way only: a person types an address into the signup form on acadanow.com and submits it. The form states that it is for scholarship and admission updates, so you know what you are joining before you join.
Consent is required. We do not add addresses collected from other websites, social media profiles, scraped pages, directories, or any third party list. If you never submitted the form, you should not be receiving our email, and we want to hear about it.
We send our email through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES), which processes the messages on our behalf.
What happens after you unsubscribe
Your address is moved to a suppression list. Suppression means the address is blocked at sending time, so no further Acadanow campaign can reach it even by accident. We do not send a follow up email asking you to reconsider.
We keep the suppressed address on record for the single purpose of honouring your choice. Deleting it outright would risk adding you back if someone later typed your address into the form.
If you ever want back in, just use the signup form again. That is a fresh act of consent and it reopens the list for you.
Bounces and complaints
Amazon SES reports back to us when a message bounces or when a recipient marks our email as spam. We act on those reports rather than ignoring them.
Hard bounces. If an address does not exist or permanently rejects mail, it is suppressed and we stop sending to it.
Soft bounces. A temporary problem, such as a full mailbox or a server outage, may be retried. If it keeps failing, we treat the address as undeliverable and suppress it.
Complaints. Marking our email as spam is treated exactly like an unsubscribe. The address is suppressed and receives nothing further from us.
Press the spam button if you prefer. It works as well as the unsubscribe link, and you will not hear from us again.
We never buy, sell or rent lists
We have never bought an email list and we never will. We also do not sell, rent, swap or hand over our subscriber list to advertisers, agents, schools or anyone else.
The only parties that touch your address are the service providers that help us operate, such as Amazon SES for delivery and our website host. They act on our instructions and may not use your address for their own marketing.
Changing your email address
Changed school, lost access to an old address, or now using a different inbox? Submit the signup form with the new address, then unsubscribe the old one using the link in any email we sent to it.
If you cannot reach the old inbox at all, email contact@acadanow.com from the new address, tell us the old one, and ask us to remove it. We will handle both steps for you.
How long we keep email data
While you are subscribed we hold your email address and the date you signed up. We also hold delivery records produced by Amazon SES, such as whether a message was delivered, bounced or drew a complaint.
Delivery records are kept for a limited period so we can protect our sending reputation and prove that we honoured an unsubscribe. Suppression entries are kept for as long as we send email, because that is what keeps you off the list.
We do not use your address to build an advertising profile of you.
Your rights and the law
We handle email data under Nigeria’s Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are also covered by the GDPR and UK GDPR.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect emails already sent. Write to us and we will respond.
Our Privacy Policy covers personal data on the site more broadly, and our Cookie Policy explains cookies and tracking.
