Aspiring interns will be offered an opportunity to assist with all business-related affairs of the organization.

Business affairs in this context refers to preparing the company’s memos, letters, data analysis, data input and other business-related affairs.

Aspiring interns are advised to be able to do the following:

  • Maintain effective communication with team leads and facilitate internal communication between teams.
  • Aspiring interns should be able to ensure that projects (local legal issues, content constraints, timing, etc.) are moving forward.
  • Aspiring interns will attend meetings with in-house business units and develop an understanding of client management.
  • Aspiring interns will observe phone calls and negotiations with external clients to further the candidate’s active negotiation skills.

This internship program is a collaboration with the International Media Alliances group.

Interns are hired to manage, support, and provide content and guidance to licensed editions of National Geographic magazines globally.

Interns under this program will be enlightened about the magazine publishing production process, the current global media industry, and international business communications in support of the International Media Alliances team.

Role Call

Aspiring interns will be required to:

  • Work with all members of the communications department on various assignments.
  • Brainstorm creative ideas for unique shows and events.
  • Set up departmental and external meetings.
  • Track and report daily media stories.

Interns under this program will assist in deepening people’s understanding of the world and their role in it and support the rapidly growing Scripted Series and Documentary Film divisions in Los Angeles.

Aspiring interns will be required to:

  • Possess a passion for the entertainment business and a specific interest in Nat Geo’s programming, mission, and values.
  • Possess an interest in learning about television drama and documentary films.
  • Be an avid reader with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be motivated, self-sufficient, and resourceful, with a can-do attitude.
  • Be analytical and organizational skills.
  • Be conversant with Computer and research, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for Mac.

Application Requirements for Aspiring Interns
