The Scholarship Department awards grants to international students (MA only) and PhD students temporarily residing in Germany for study or research purposes. The requirements are:

  • German language proficiency (B2 level or above)
  • M.A. Students must be enrolled at a state or state-recognized German¬†university.
  • PhD students must be accepted at a German university
  • Graduate students pursuing their M.A., Diploma, or State Examination in Germany, or doctoral students doing a PhD or doctoral research in Germany, can apply for scholarships for M.A. and postgraduate students from Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, and Iraq.

Criteria For Selection

  • High scholarly and professional qualifications (proof of above-average academic achievement at school and university)
  • Political and social engagement in line with the aims of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung
  • German language proficiency (B2 level or above).

Target Group

Students from all over the world attend; Women, students from non-academic and migrant backgrounds, and the socially disadvantaged, and we give individuals with disabilities with achievement and commitment preference.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions

The scholarship is a living allowance for international students for the typical study program period. International students’ tuition fees are not covered.

The Scholarship Department of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung supports researchers, including political education events and summer schools, domestic and international seminars, symposia, and educational tours.

It also offers practical training in rhetoric, conflict resolution, key skills, time management and self-management, academic qualification enhancement, text and writing workshops, and method-specific seminars.
