Eligibility for the Swedish Institute Scholarships

You must be a citizen of one of the countries listed above eligible for Swedish Institute (SI) scholarships.

  • You must have at least 3,000 hours of work experience from a maximum of three organizations or firms before February 10, 2024.
  • You must apply for a Master’s degree program that qualifies for Swedish Institute scholarships (see above). Depending on your nation of citizenship, the institution prioritizes programs in specific topic areas.
  • You must have demonstrated leadership experience through a current or former job or civic commitment.
  • You must be obliged to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities, have completed the University Admissions process, and have been admitted to one of the eligible master’s degrees by April 7, 2024.

Financial Benefits of the Swedish Institute Scholarships

The scholarship covers full tuition fees, monthly living expenses of SEK 10,000 (about 450,000 naira), insurance, and a one-time travel award of SEK 10,000-15,000 (only for scholarship holders outside of Sweden).

The scholarship is only available for full-time one-year or two-year master’s programs that begin in the autumn semester. The following autumn semester began in August 2024.

However, there are no additional awards available for family members. It also does not cover the University Admissions application fee.

Application Procedure

  • First, apply for a master’s program by 17 January 2024 here. After submitting your application for the master’s program(s) through the website mentioned above, you will be assigned an eight-digit personal application number. You need this number when applying for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals.
  • You can apply for a SI scholarship after you have finished applying to a master’s program. From 10 February, 12:01 AM through 28 February 2024, 2:59 PM CET, you must submit the documents digitally through the online application site.
