Eligibility Criteria | Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarship

Candidates are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for the scholarship

  • Applicants must be international students residing in the U.S.A., Canada, or Puerto Rico
  •  Students admitted into an undergraduate degree program
  •  The award is available for undergraduate students in various courses offered at the individual choice of University.
  • High school seniors in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico who are enrolled in a home school
  •  Applicants who are full-time freshmen at an authorized four-year institution in Canada or the United States that is also exempt from paying taxes under the internal revenue code of Section 501(c)(3)
  •  G.P.A. of at least 3.3
  •  Students who have a minimum combined S.A.T. score of 1220 or A.C.T. composite score
  •  Students who demonstrate an active leadership role in athletics, community service, or similar co-curricular activity (such as team sports, student government, fraternal life, etc.); and
  •  Students who demonstrate substantial work experience and financial need. 

Scholarship Benefits

  • A maximum of three James W. McLamore WHOPPER® scholarships worth $50,000 will be awarded to the most deserving students who exhibit leadership, significant job experience, and financial need.
  •  Up to twelve (12) Regional awards of $5,000 (2 awards per region) granted to the most qualified employees in each of six (6) regions from the pool of submitted and eligible applicants
  •  At least two (2) H.E.R. (Helping Equalize Restaurants) Scholarship awards of $25,000 will be granted to the most qualified employees from Burger King Employee-Based Track and employees pursuing an enrichment program. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and demonstrate substantial work experience and financial need.
  •  Up to six (6) King Awards at $10,000 granted to the top employees (1 award per region)
  •  There are several special-named awards for various franchisees, which are determined annually based on funds raised.
