  • Level of Study: In collaboration with a partner university abroad, pursue a master’s degree, an engineering program, or a joint doctoral program (joint supervision of dissertation and/or dual degree).
  • Field(s) of study: Two major disciplinary fields concerned by the Eiffel scholarships cover the following seven fields of study for the Master and Doctorate components:
    • Biology and health; ecological transition; mathematics, and digital; are examples of science and technology. Engineering and science.
    • French history, language, and civilization for the humanities and social sciences, Law and Political Science, and Economics Management.

Financial benefit and scholarship duration

International air travel, train travel inside France, local transit, health insurance, and cultural events are all covered under the scheme.

Under certain situations, scholarship recipients may also be eligible for an additional housing allowance.

  • The Eiffel scholarship comprises a monthly grant of €1,181 and can be awarded for 12 to 36 months of Master’s level education.
  • The Eiffel scholarship comprises a monthly payment of €1,700 for Ph.D.-level studies and is offered for a maximum of 12 months.

The Eiffel Scholarships does not pay tuition costs. The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs wants educational institutions, whose worldwide standing is boosted by this program, to provide students with the best financial assistance possible.

Students admitted to public educational institutions are exempt from enrolment fees as beneficiaries of French government scholarships.

Eligibility for the Eiffel Scholarships

  • This program is only available to non-French nationals. Candidates who have two nationalities, one of which is French, are also ineligible.
  • Candidates at the Master’s level must have been born after March 31, 1996, during the 2022 application campaign. However, candidates for the Ph.D. level must be at least 30 years old during the application in 2024; that is, they must have been born after March 31, 1991.
  • Only applications from French educational institutions are accepted. Applications received in any other manner will not be accepted. Furthermore, any applicant nominated by more than one institution will be disqualified.
  • Scholarships from the Eiffel Programme are designed for students pursuing a master’s degree in France (including at a school of engineering) and doctorate candidates. Only French government-approved programs are eligible.
  • An application naming a student previously rejected in a competition will not be accepted, even if submitted by a new school or in a different field of study.
  • Candidates already studying in France are ineligible for the Master’s level. Students enrolling in academic programs overseas receive priority over students already in France at the Ph.D. level.
  • Institutions may nominate a candidate who has already received a master’s scholarship for a doctoral scholarship. Candidates who have already received a doctorate scholarship are ineligible for another.
  • To minimize scholarship conflicts, applications from students who have already been given another French government scholarship at the time of application will be rejected, even if the other scholarship solely includes health insurance.

Application Instructions

Eiffel Scholarships applications are only accepted from French higher education institutions.

To be considered for the scholarship, you must apply and meet the conditions of the French Higher Education Institution.

The application date for participating French institutions is early November or December of 2024.

Note: Applications sent directly by students or international institutions will be rejected.
