The University of Ibadan (UI) is Nigeria’s oldest university, and its 2026/2027 admission process still runs on the same O’Level and JAMB conditions outlined below.

Requirements
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O’Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO, or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
- Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) passes at credit or merit level, combined with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO, or approved equivalents, may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O’Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO, or approved equivalents.
- Candidates have historically needed a JAMB score of around 200 and above to qualify for UI’s internal screening, though the exact cut-off is set fresh each session and varies by course. Confirm the current figure on UI’s admission page or JAMB’s CAPS portal.

Matching Your Grades to a UI Programme
Match your O’Level subjects and JAMB score to the specific course you want, since UI sets its internal screening cut-off separately for each programme rather than applying one number across the board.
Combined-honours courses in Arts and Science, such as Archaeology with Geology or Archaeology with History, often carry narrower subject requirements than the general list suggests.
