African students admitted in the Fall 2025 term (September start date) or later with an admission average of 80% or better studying in English are eligible for the University of Ottawa Scholarships for African Students.
These awardees should also have enrolled in one of the specified undergraduate programs in the Engineering, Science, or Social Sciences faculties.
The diversity of its foreign student body is something the University of Ottawa is proud of.
Depending on the program each year, these substantial financial contributions to their education cut their tuition costs by $17,500 to $25,000 for excellence scholarships and by $12,000 to $20,000 for admission scholarships.
Upon enrollment, this grant will be immediately awarded to all qualifying students. It will be directly deducted from their tuition costs.
The Excellence Scholarship for African Students Studying English cannot be used in conjunction with the Entrance Scholarship.

Requirements for the University of Ottawa Scholarships for African Students
When a student is admitted, they are automatically considered for this award and informed of their status.
Although there is no application process for this award, applicants will need to provide documentation proving that they are citizens of an African nation or territory before they may receive their first payments.
The candidate must:
- Be a foreign student with current study permission.
- Possess nationality from an African nation.
- Be freshly admitted to one of the following English-taught undergraduate programs.
- Be enrolled full-time.
For the Entrance scholarship, the admission average is 89.99% or lower once converted in our grading scale.
While for the Excellence scholarship, the admission average of a minimum of 90% once converted in our grading scale.

- After the application, the University receives the application. It generates a Student Number which the prospective student uses to log in to UOZone, the school’s portal, and submit their exam results and supporting documentation.
