Eligibility
To be eligible for the Karen McKellin Foreign Leader of Tomorrow Award, you must be a foreign student enrolled in Canadian academic programs with a valid study permit from that country.
• You must transfer from your first year of a post-secondary college or another university or have graduated from a recognized secondary school to enrol at UBC.
• Two years before the academic year you are applying for, you must have graduated from high school in June. For instance, candidates for 2025 must have completed their high school education no sooner than June 2020.
• Your application must be for your first undergraduate degree.
• You must exhibit exceptional academic achievement (all As or standards equivalent).
• You must Meet UBC’s entrance standards, including general and degree-specific requirements and the English Language entrance Standard.
- You must demonstrate a level of financial need that would otherwise preclude you from obtaining a UBC degree.

You will need a nomination from your school or a non-profit organization to be considered for the International Scholars program. Additionally, you must provide a reference from an academic referee.
Please ensure that your school or non-profit can nominate you and inform your nominator and academic referee that you intend to apply for the International Scholars Program.
Submit your award application and complete the online application for admission to UBC by 1 December 2021. You must meet the UBC English Language Admission Requirement by 1 February 2025.
