    About United Nations Young Professionals Programme

    The program for Young Professionals in the UN (YPP) aims to find young, highly qualified individuals to begin a career as a global civil servant with the United Nations Secretariat. 

    It comprises an admission exam and professional development courses once selected applicants begin working for the UN.

    Exams for the United Nations Young Professionals Program are given once a year, and anyone from a nation participating in the recruitment process can take them. The list of participating nations is updated annually and changes from year to year.

    Value of United Nations Young Professionals Programme: 

    • Salary and Post adjustments

    Candidates are allowed to only apply for one YPP job opening. If a candidate Submits to multiple YPP exams, this will result in an automatic disqualification.

    Eligibility

    Interested candidates

    • For eligibility, you must be a citizen of one of the participating nations.
    • Possess a first-level university degree in a field related to the exam subject you are applying for.
    • Must be 32 years old or younger than the year of the exam.
    • Either French or English proficiency is required.

    Applicants are invited to apply if they are a member of the UN Secretariat’s General Service or a comparable category employee who hopes to advance to the Professional or higher category.

    Selection Criteria: 

    • Your application will be evaluated to see if you qualify for the exam in the topic you applied for.
    • Suppose more than 40 candidates from one nation submit applications for the same exam area. In that case, those candidates will be further screened and ranked by a human resources officer using points assigned for the following additional qualifications: the highest level of education completed, proficiency in official UN languages, and relevant work experience.
    • Please be aware that many potential applicants fail the screening process because their applications are incorrect or incomplete.
    • You will be notified that you are being called to the exam if your application is accepted.
