The requirements below cover the WAEC or NECO subject combination for Chemical Engineering, the four JAMB UTME papers, and the Direct Entry route, along with the minimum JAMB score applied before screening.

About Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun

Federal University of Petroleum Resources is located in Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria.

It was established in 2007 by the government of Nigeria to create Universities that specialise in producing graduates with practical and theoretical knowledge of Oil and Gas.

Admission Requirements for Chemical Engineering

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination

The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Chemical Engineering is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any science subject.

JAMB Subject Combination

In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.

Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Chemical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering at FUPRE include;

Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Chemical Engineering if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUPRE for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.

A Closed Subject List at FUPRE Chemical Engineering

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry appear on all three routes with no alternative offered. They sit among the five O’level credits, make up the UTME papers beside English Language, and form the Direct Entry requirement.

That leaves only the fifth O’level credit open, and even that must be a science subject.

Candidates sometimes assume Further Mathematics or Technical Drawing can substitute for one of the three. Nothing on this page supports that, so plan around the named subjects.

The score requirement is a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session, the same figure that applies across the university.
