This is to inform the general public and all Adeyemi College Of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) aspirants that the admission requirements for the Department of History/Social Studies have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
History is the fixed subject on both lists, supported in each case by two further choices. The two lists frame those choices in different ways.
At Ordinary Level the department names four option entries. In JAMB it instead asks for one Arts subject and one Social Science subject without naming either.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study History/Social Studies include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- History and any two subjects below:
- Geography
- Government
- Economics
- CRS/IRS
English Language, Mathematics and History are compulsory, with two further credits drawn from Geography, Government, Economics, and the paired religious studies entry.
Because Christian and Islamic Religious Studies count as a single option, a candidate needs only one of the two to use that entry.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- History and any one Arts and one Social Science subject
That gives four papers: English Language, History, one Arts subject and one Social Science subject. The requirement is to span both groups rather than to name particular subjects.
Mathematics is needed among the Ordinary Level credits but has no place in the JAMB registration for this department.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted to the Adeyemi College Of Education for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 120 or above in your JAMB result.
That score sets eligibility for the screening exercise. Candidates who reach it still have that stage ahead of them before any offer.

One Arts and One Social Science for ACEONDO History
The JAMB condition here is worth reading twice, because it asks a candidate to cover two different subject groups rather than to pick from a named list.
History itself is the only subject required at both stages, and no alternative such as Government is offered in its place.
Mathematics completes the named Ordinary Level credits, two option credits come from the four listed entries, and the JAMB score needs to reach 120 for the screening exercise.
