About the Program
This scholarship is part of Nigeria’s Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) Stage III Project.
The project aims to reduce HCFC-22, a significant ozone-depleting substance, by introducing low ozone-depleting and Global Warming Potential technologies. The target is to achieve a 67.5% reduction in HCFC baseline consumption by 2025.
Scholarship Details
What’s Included
- Award: Up to $4,000, paid in tranches contingent on training and internship completion in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC).
- Training Opportunity: Potential training in RAC.
- Internship: A 1 to 3-month internship with a RAC-focused company.
- SWE Membership: Free collegiate membership with the Society of Women Engineers.
- Mentorship: Access to mentors in the engineering field.
Eligibility Criteria
- Gender: Must identify as a woman.
- Nationality: Nigerian citizenship is required.
- Age Limit: Must be below 40 years at the time of application.
- Educational Status: Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited Nigerian university, polytechnic, or post-secondary institution.
- Field of Study: Must be in an engineering sciences and technology program or related field.
- Stage of Study: Within the final two years of study.
- Academic Record: Good academic standing, no minimum GPA requirement.
- Extracurricular Engagement: Demonstrated leadership and activity involvement.
- Commitment: Attend all scholarship events, workshops, and training and complete an internship.
