This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Art & Design admission requirements have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers and the minimum UTME score. Fine Art is compulsory on both lists, while Mathematics changes status between them.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Art & Design include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Fine Art
- Mathematics and any two of the following:
- History/Government
- Chemistry/Physical Science
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Literature in English
- Clothing and Textiles
- Religious Knowledge
- Economics/Commerce
- Geography
- Home Economics
English Language, Fine Art and Mathematics are the three named credits, with two more drawn from a nine subject list that spans the arts, the sciences and the commercial subjects.
Clothing and Textiles and Home Economics appear there, which suits candidates who studied practical subjects alongside Fine Art.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Fine Art and any two of the following:
- History
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Biology
- A Nigeria Language
On the JAMB form English Language and Fine Art are fixed, and two papers come from History, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and a Nigerian Language.
Mathematics therefore drops from a compulsory credit to one option among five, so a candidate can leave it off the registration but not off the result.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Fine Art and the Mathematics Credit at YABATECH Art and Design
Fine Art and English Language are required on both lists, which makes them the two grades to secure before anything else in this application.
Mathematics is the subject to watch. It is a named credit but only an option in JAMB, so the two lists must be checked separately. Then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
