The National Universities Commission (NUC) has disclosed the outcomes of the January 2022 Accreditation exercise, which evaluated the thirteen (13) academic programs at the Federal University Gusau (FUGUSAU).
These programs had initially received interim accreditation during the 2018 accreditation exercise.
In the recently released results, the University achieved full accreditation for all thirteen (13) programs.
This information was conveyed in a letter dated 14 April 2022, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/43, sent to the University by the Vice-Chancellor.
The letter, titled “Results of October/November 2021 Approval of Academic Programs at Nigerian Universities,” was signed by Dr. Maryam Sali, the Director of the Accreditation Commission, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary.
The thirteen programs, spanning the Faculties of Science, Humanities, and Education, secured full accreditation.
These programs include Biochemistry, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Plant Science and Biotechnology, Physics, Zoology, English, Hausa, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies, and Education Economics.
In response to this development, Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, expressed his satisfaction with the accreditation results.
He extended gratitude to the Council, University Management, and the entire staff for their collective efforts and contributions that led to the attainment of full accreditation for the re-accredited programs.
While conveying his joy about the results, the Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of all stakeholders who played a role in the institution’s success.
Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau assumed the position of the third substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University in February 2021 and prioritized the accreditation exercise as a key focus upon taking office.
