How to Calculate FUTMINNA Aggregate Score 2026/2027

Working out your FUTMINNA aggregate score is useful after sitting both JAMB and the post-UTME screening exercise. It tells you roughly where you stand before the admission list is released. Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) publishes a formula for this, and the arithmetic takes seconds once you understand it.

Most Nigerian universities use a weighted formula that combines your JAMB score with your post-UTME score, rather than simply adding the two together. This is why candidates get confused when their raw scores look high but their aggregate does not match expectations.

This guide walks through the FUTMINNA formula, with a worked example, so you can calculate your own aggregate score and compare it against the department cut-off before checking the admission list.

FUTMINNA aggregate score

What Is Post-UTME Score?

After every UTME exercise, JAMB sets a national benchmark score that candidates must meet before they’re eligible to sit a school’s Post-UTME. FUTMINNA then sets its own cut-off, which can’t be lower than JAMB’s benchmark. A candidate who clears JAMB’s benchmark but falls short of FUTMINNA’s own cut-off won’t be eligible to sit FUTMINNA’s Post-UTME.

What Is Aggregate Score?

Your aggregate score combines your UTME and Post-UTME results into one figure, which FUTMINNA uses to rank candidates and set the cut-off point for each programme. Cut-off points differ by course depending on how the whole pool of applicants for that course performed.

How to Calculate FUTMINNA Aggregate Score

FUTMINNA’s JAMB examination is marked out of 400, while its Post-UTME screening is marked out of 100. The most consistently reported formula is a 50:50 split between the two:

  • Divide your JAMB score by 8.
  • Divide your Post-UTME score by 2.
  • Add the two results together to get your aggregate score.

You’ll find other versions of FUTMINNA’s formula floating around online, including a simple average of the two raw scores. FUTMINNA hasn’t published a single detailed breakdown we could independently verify, so treat the JAMB/8 + Post-UTME/2 method above as the most widely used working formula rather than a guaranteed official one.

Say a candidate scored 240 in JAMB and 60 in FUTMINNA’s Post-UTME:

240 ÷ 8 = 30

60 ÷ 2 = 30

30 + 30 = 60

That candidate’s aggregate score would be 60 out of a possible 100.

If the Portal Will Not Load

Result portals in Nigeria tend to experience heavy traffic in the hours right after a release, so if a page times out, it is often congestion rather than a fault on your end.

Try again after a short while, preferably outside peak hours such as early morning or late evening, and clear your browser cache if the page keeps showing an old error.

If the problem persists for more than a day or two, it is worth reaching out to the school’s admissions office directly rather than continuing to refresh the page.

What Stands Out

Working out your FUTMINNA aggregate score takes less than a minute once you have both your JAMB and post-UTME figures, and doing the maths yourself means you are not left guessing while you wait for the admission list.

Compare your result against your department’s published cut-off, and if you are close to the margin, keep checking the school’s official portal for updates rather than relying on rumours.
