Candidates who are still unsure where they stand should treat IMT’s figure as the starting point for everything else in the admission process. This is the starting point for every candidate, no matter which department they eventually apply to.
ND and Degree Programmes Don’t Share One Cut-off Mark
IMT runs both National Diploma (ND) programmes and degree programmes in affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). These two tracks don’t sit at the same cut-off mark, so a single flat figure across every course, which is what this page used to show, isn’t accurate.
For 2026/2027, JAMB’s national floor for polytechnics (which covers IMT’s ND programmes) is 100. It is worth double-checking this detail directly against the official portal before relying on it.
Degree programmes typically carry a higher benchmark since they follow university-level admission standards, but IMT’s own site doesn’t currently publish a confirmed figure for either track this cycle, and the numbers circulating online range anywhere from 100 to 160 depending on the source.
Rather than repeat an unverified number for dozens of departments across the School of Engineering, Environmental Studies, Financial Studies, Business Studies, Communication Art, and the rest, we’re giving you the honest floor: 100 for ND programmes, and a recommendation to confirm the degree-track figure directly with IMT’s admissions office or imt.edu.ng before applying.
Candidates for either track need at least 5 O’Level credit passes, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings. IMT screens both first and second-choice candidates in its Post-UTME exercise.
