Many students struggle to calculate their aggregate score and cut-off mark because it varies by institution. Here’s exactly how Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP) works it out, with a correctly worked example.

What Is Post-UTME Score?
After every UTME exercise, JAMB sets a national benchmark score candidates must meet before they’re eligible for a school’s Post-UTME. KSP then fixes its own cut-off, which can’t be lower than JAMB’s benchmark, and that cut-off mark is what’s referred to as the school’s cut-off mark.
How to Calculate KSP Aggregate Score
KSP’s JAMB examination is marked out of 400, while its Post-UTME screening is marked out of 100. The formula is a 50:50 split between the two:
- Divide your JAMB score by 8.
- Divide your Post-UTME score by 2.
- Add the two results together to get your aggregate score.
Say a candidate scored 160 in JAMB and 50 in KSP’s Post-UTME:
160 ÷ 8 = 20
50 ÷ 2 = 25
20 + 25 = 45
That candidate’s aggregate score would be 45 out of a possible 100.
