This article is designed to help students who wish to study Education and Accountancy in the faculty of Education at Lagos State University.
Confirm that Education and Accountancy is still listed at LASU before you register for JAMB. The waiver at the foot of this post both widens the Direct Entry subjects and closes off the diploma route.
Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.
The university caters to a population of over 35,000 students enrolled full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels.
Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria. LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Accountancy;
You require; Five (5) SSC credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two (2) other relevant subjects.
Three credits are named and the last two are described only as relevant subjects, which in an accounting context points at Commerce, Principles of Accounts and Business Methods.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Accountancy under the Faculty of Education at LASU include;
Mathematics, Economics, plus any Social Science subject.
The JAMB combination keeps the same core and restricts the fourth paper to the Social Sciences. English Language, Mathematics and Economics fill the other three places.
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Accountancy if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Business Methods and one (1) Social Science subject.
The general Direct Entry line names Business Methods as one of the two passes, with a social science subject beside it.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- LASU requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit in Business Method, Commerce, Economics, and the Principle of Accounting. Does not accept ND and HND.
The waiver widens that list to Business Methods, Commerce, Economics and Principles of Accounting, and accepts an NCE at merit as well as A Level passes.
It also closes a door, since LASU does not accept an ND or HND for this programme. Diploma holders have no Direct Entry route here.
