This article is designed to help students who wish to study Education and Chemistry in the faculty of Education at Lagos State University.
Confirm that Education and Chemistry is still listed at LASU before you register for JAMB. Chemistry is compulsory at every stage, and the science subjects allowed beside it shift from list to list.

Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.
The university caters to a population of over 35,000 students enrolled full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels.
Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria. LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Chemistry;
You require; Five (5) SSC credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, and English Language and two (2) in Physics, Biology, and Agricultural Science.
Three credits are named and the last two must come from Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science, so one of those three has to be left out.
Agricultural Science counting here is useful for candidates from schools where it replaced one of the laboratory sciences.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Chemistry under the Faculty of Education at LASU include;
Chemistry and two (2) other subjects are chosen from Physics, Biology, and Mathematics.
The JAMB list swaps Agricultural Science for Mathematics. Chemistry stays fixed beside the compulsory English Language, and the other two papers come from Physics, Biology and Mathematics.
A candidate who used Agricultural Science as one of their two O Level sciences will find it has no place on the form.

Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes, including Chemistry and one (1) other Science subject
Direct Entry asks only for Chemistry plus one further science subject, with an NCE accepted alongside A Level passes. It is the least prescriptive of the three routes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into LASU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 160 or above in your JAMB result.
Agricultural Science Counts at LASU Only Before the JAMB Form
Chemistry is required on every route into this department, with English Language and Mathematics compulsory among the credits. Those three come first.
The science options then diverge, since Agricultural Science counts towards the credits but not the JAMB papers, where Mathematics takes its place. Register accordingly and clear 160 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
