Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.

LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and English Language; You require;
Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English plus three other Arts or Social Science subjects.
The general line names English Language and Literature in English, and restricts the remaining three credits to the Arts or Social Sciences.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- LASU requires a credit in Mathematics.
The waiver adds Mathematics as a compulsory credit. It is a single short line, but it reduces the open places and applies to every candidate.
Applicants who built an entirely Arts based result will need to address that before applying.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and English Language under the Faculty of Education at LASU include;
Literature in English and one Art and any other subjects.
On the JAMB form Literature in English joins the compulsory English Language, one further paper must be an Arts subject, and the last is open.
