Mathematics at NDA offers two separate Direct Entry routes, and they do not accept the same subjects as one another. Confirm the course is offered and check which of the two routes your qualifications actually fit before registering for JAMB.
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna is one of the first of two Military Universities in Nigeria. Nigerian Army University, established in 2018 in Biu, Borno State, is the other military university that does not offer military training.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Mathematics are as follows:
Five (5) SSC credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, and Physics or Chemistry.
Only two credits are pinned down. English Language and Mathematics are compulsory, a third must be Physics or Chemistry, and the last two places are open to any other subject you passed at credit level.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Mathematics under the Faculty of Sciences at NDA include;
Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, and Economics or Geography.
The UTME list reaches beyond the sciences. Mathematics is compulsory, and the two subjects joining it may include Economics or Geography, neither of which is a laboratory science.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Mathematics if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject.
- NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) in Physics, Chemistry, or Economics.
These two routes part company on the second subject. The A Level route requires another science subject, while the NCE route names Physics, Chemistry or Economics, so Economics is acceptable on one route and not the other.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into NDA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
An NCE Accepts Economics Where A Levels Will Not
Mathematics is compulsory at every stage of this page, and nothing substitutes for it. The question worth settling early is what you intend to put beside it, because the answer is not the same on all four routes.
A candidate holding Economics can use it on the UTME form and on the NCE route at Direct Entry, but the A Level route asks for another science subject and would not accept it. UTME candidates need the five credits and 180 or above for the 2026/2027 session.
