Insurance is offered under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY). This page covers the O’Level subject combination, the UTME subjects and the JAMB score the polytechnic requires.
English Language and Mathematics are the fixed O’Level credits, with three more drawn from a commercial and general list. The UTME combination is narrower and built around Mathematics.

The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State.
The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brainchild of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result-oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme.
The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries).
The climatic condition of the host community ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade.
It is one of Nigeria’s fastest-developing tertiary institutions with a highly futuristic disposition. It has a functional memorandum of understanding with universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.
- The main campus at Oko occupies a total land area of 89 hectares.
- Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectares.
- Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectares.

Mathematics and any two of Economics, Geography, Commerce or Principles of Accounts.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Insurance, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require
Federal Polytechnic, Oko does not publish a separate Direct Entry subject list for Insurance on this page. Candidates holding a pre-ND, an NCE or a business or financial studies diploma should ask the department what it accepts.
Bring your O’Level statement of result and your diploma transcript to that enquiry, since Oko decides case by case whether a prior qualification is close enough to the programme.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko for the 2026/2027 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.
Commercial Credits Open the OKOPOLY Insurance Door
At O’Level you need English Language, specifically not Literature in English, plus Mathematics and any three from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History, Typewriting and Shorthand.
Literature in English appears in both halves of that line, excluded as the English credit but allowed as one of the three optional subjects. Read it carefully, because it is easy to misread as a blanket exclusion.
The UTME combination is much shorter. English Language is compulsory, Mathematics is required, and two more come from Economics, Geography, Commerce and Principles of Accounts. A JAMB score of 100 or above makes you eligible for screening.
