Public Administration is offered under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY). This page covers the O’Level subject combination, the UTME subjects and the JAMB score the polytechnic requires.
English Language and Mathematics are the two fixed O’Level credits, with three more drawn from a long list of commercial, arts and science subjects. The UTME combination is much shorter and more specific.

The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State.
The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brainchild of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result-oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme.
The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries).
The climatic condition of the host community ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade.
It is one of Nigeria’s fastest-developing tertiary institutions with a highly futuristic disposition. It has a functional memorandum of understanding with universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.
- The main campus at Oko occupies a total land area of 89 hectares.
- Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectares.
- Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectares.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Public Administration if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require
Federal Polytechnic, Oko does not publish a separate Direct Entry subject list for Public Administration on this page. Candidates holding an NCE, a pre-ND or a diploma in a management or social science field should contact the department before applying.
Bring your O’Level statement of result and your diploma transcript to that enquiry. Oko decides whether a prior qualification is relevant, and settling the question in writing is faster than finding out at screening.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.
Three UTME Subjects Decide OKOPOLY Public Administration
The UTME combination leaves nothing to choose. Alongside the compulsory English Language you sit Government, History and Economics, so a candidate who registers a different social science subject will not meet the requirement.
At O’Level the picture is much wider. English Language, specifically not Literature in English, and Mathematics are required, with three more from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History, Typewriting and Shorthand.
The screening threshold at Oko is 100 in JAMB. That is low by national standards, but it only makes you eligible for screening, so check the departmental cut-off published for the session before counting on a place.
