What Is Post-UTME Score?

After every UTME exercise, JAMB sets a national benchmark score candidates must meet before they can sit a school’s Post-UTME. RSU then sets its own cut-off, which can’t fall below JAMB’s benchmark. A candidate who clears JAMB’s benchmark but falls short of RSU’s own cut-off won’t be eligible for RSU’s Post-UTME. That cut-off mark is what’s set by RSU’s admission board each session.

How to Calculate RSU Aggregate Score

RSU’s JAMB examination is marked out of 400, while its Post-UTME screening is marked out of 100. The formula most consistently reported is a 50:50 split between the two:

  • Divide your JAMB score by 8.
  • Divide your Post-UTME score by 2.
  • Add the two results together to get your aggregate score.

Say a candidate scored 240 in JAMB and 80 in RSU’s Post-UTME:

240 ÷ 8 = 30

80 ÷ 2 = 40

30 + 40 = 70

That candidate’s aggregate score would be 70 out of a possible 100.

Worth flagging: a few sources describe RSU adding the raw Post-UTME score without dividing it by 2, which would give a different total. RSU’s own portal doesn’t publish a single detailed breakdown we could independently confirm, so treat the formula above as the most consistently reported working method rather than a guaranteed official one, and double-check against your own admission status once released.

RSU Departmental Cut-off Marks

RSU doesn’t publish one uniform cut-off for every course. Admission is based on JAMB scores and O’Level grades, with these general bands:

  1. Medicine (O’Level in one sitting only) and Nursing: around 220 to 240.
  2. Mass Communication, Law, Pharmacy, Anatomy, Physiology: around 200.
  3. Computer Science, English Language, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Geology, and most Engineering courses (except Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering): around 190.
  4. All other courses: around 180.

Candidates must meet the minimum UTME score for their chosen course, use the correct UTME subject combination from the JAMB brochure, and hold the required O’Level credits. Confirm the exact 2026/2027 figures on RSU’s official admissions portal.

Final Thoughts

Work out your RSU aggregate as soon as your Post-UTME result is out, then check it against your department’s typical cut-off and RSU’s official admission list for the 2026/2027 session.
