SSU has released its cut-off mark details for the 2026/2027 admission session. Candidates who listed the institution on JAMB should review these figures carefully before moving on to the rest of the admission process and other requirements.

Sokoto State University is a state-owned university in Sokoto, Sokoto State, established in 2009. None of this changes depending on how strong the rest of a candidate’s application looks. None of this changes depending on how strong the rest of a candidate’s application looks.
SSU JAMB General Cut-off Mark
JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting kept 150 as the national floor for university admission, and SSU can’t admit below that. Sources reporting SSU’s own figure for this cycle disagree, with some citing 140, which is below the current national floor and so can’t be right, and others citing 150, which matches the floor exactly.
Given that mismatch, we’re treating 150 as the reliable number rather than repeating an unconfirmed one.
Meeting 150 only means you’re qualified for screening, not that you’re admitted. SSU runs Merit, ELDS, and Catchment categories for admission, and reports suggest Computer Science and Biotechnology ask for considerably more under the Merit category, though we haven’t been able to confirm exact departmental figures directly from SSU’s own portal.
You’ll have to score well above 150 in both JAMB and SSU’s Post-UTME to have a realistic shot at competitive courses.

How to Calculate SSU Aggregate Score
SSU’s aggregate formula combines your JAMB and Post-UTME scores, each weighted differently, since JAMB is marked out of 400 and SSU’s Post-UTME out of 100.
- Divide your JAMB score by 8.
- Divide your Post-UTME score by 2.
- Add the two results together.
For example, a candidate with 240 in JAMB and 80 in Post-UTME would get 240 ÷ 8 = 30, plus 80 ÷ 2 = 40, for an aggregate of 70.
We’ll update this page with SSU’s confirmed cut-off mark once the university publishes one.
SSU’s Cutoff, Put in Context
SSU uses its cut-off mark to set the floor for consideration, not the ceiling for admission. Everything after that point still matters.
