UNIBEN has released a resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session. That confirmed date is the one piece of information students currently need to plan around, since it is what the school itself has put on record so far.
Anyone connected to UNIBEN, whether newly admitted or already enrolled for a while now, should be working backward from that date rather than guessing at a timeline that has not been confirmed.
UNIBEN Resumption Date 2026/2027: What’s Confirmed
UNIBEN Resumption Date The University of Benin Senate modified the institution’s 2026/2027 academic calendar and approved Sunday, October 23, 2026, as the date for students to return to residential halls.
Lectures are slated to resume on October 24th, after the second semester was shortened for eight months due to the recently suspended strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. That is the detail UNIBEN has put its name to for 2026/2027, and it is the one to build any plans around.
What to Sort Out Beforehand
A matriculation ceremony, where it applies, usually comes after resumption and registration are both complete, so it is worth checking the school’s calendar for that date separately once it is out.
Course registration typically opens shortly after lectures resume, and missing that window can affect exam eligibility, so marking it down as soon as the school confirms it matters.
Having original and photocopied O-level results, JAMB documents, a birth certificate, and passport photographs ready in advance means registration day moves faster once it finally arrives.
Keeping proof of any fee payment accessible matters, since registration desks commonly ask for it before issuing a matriculation number, course registration slip, or hostel allocation.
Fresh students in particular should confirm their acceptance fee has gone through and keep the receipt somewhere easy to find, rather than assuming the payment is automatically on record.
Checking the school’s official social media pages alongside the website can help, since some institutions post a short notice there before updating the main portal.
