What Is Post-UTME Score?
After every UTME exercise, JAMB sets a national benchmark score that candidates must meet before they’re eligible to sit a school’s Post-UTME. UNICAL then fixes its own cut-off, which can’t fall below JAMB’s benchmark. A candidate who clears JAMB’s benchmark but falls short of UNICAL’s own cut-off won’t be eligible to sit UNICAL’s Post-UTME.
How UNICAL Actually Calculates Aggregate Score
UNICAL doesn’t use the generic JAMB/8 + Post-UTME/2 formula common at many other schools. According to UNICAL’s own public statement on the matter, your aggregate is simply the average of your two raw scores:
Aggregate Score = (JAMB Score + Post-UTME Score) ÷ 2
UNICAL has also stated that O’Level results are not factored into the aggregate calculation, so your admission chances here come down entirely to your JAMB and Post-UTME performance.
Say a candidate scored 240 in JAMB and 60 in UNICAL’s Post-UTME:
(240 + 60) ÷ 2 = 150
That candidate’s aggregate score would be 150. Notice that UNICAL’s simple-average method produces a different scale from schools that divide JAMB by 8, so don’t try to compare your UNICAL aggregate directly against another school’s aggregate using a different formula.
